Our vineyards lie in the Green Valley American Viticultural Area of Solano County, just a mile to the east of the Napa AVA. Our warmer days combine with the cool evening breezes from the Bay to create a unique climate worthy of its own AVA designation. The grapes slowly and gently ripen, protected from the sometimes strong winds of Solano County. Our west-facing slopes and their rocky soils draw out the best from our vines, providing a special combination of nutrients and stresses to create the wonderful flavors unique to our vineyard. We have discovered that our little sheltered spot is unique to the Green Valley AVA, in that it is nestled against the hills, and protected in the valley. We are producing outstanding, rich and hearty wines at our family owned local boutique winery. All of our vines are meticulously hand-tended, carefully managing the size of the crop, the leaf canopy, irrigation and pest control. Harvesting is a very special time at the winery. Friends and family gather to harvest the grapes, carefully hand-sorting them and hurrying them to the crusher, assuring that the finest product of the vine is made available for the winemaker`s task that lies ahead. "Fine Handcrafted Wines" is not just a phrase - here, we`re proud to make wines "from the ground up." We grow our own grapes and we harvest, crush, ferment, press, age and bottle all right here at our winery, and all by hand. We only produce red wines, as we are focused on a delicious, robust, fruit-forward wine. Our annual production of 400 cases is divided among the several varieties we make sometimes there is only a single barrel of a particular wine produced in a year. Rock Creek Vineyard wines promise a softness on the palate that belies the richness of the mature fruit. Our wines are delicious upon release, but age even better... as they mature our customers come back again and again and savor our wonderful artisan vintages. Rock Creek Vineyard has been making wines since 2005. Our first public release was 2007 and we are now beginning to bottle the 2010 vintage, which will be available for release in January of 2012.

History:

We love working with the earth. Its a tradition that goes back hundreds of years in our family. We have even traced the making of red wine in our ancestry to the early 1700s. In the early 1800s, our great-grandfather was one of the early pioneers of the American West. He homesteaded a modest piece of land and named it Rock Creek. It wasn`t much, but with hard work he turned it into one of the most productive farms in the area. Today, the name of our local boutique winery honors his legacy as we continue that farming tradition by producing fine hand-crafted wines here in our wonderful Green Valley AVA. So why the rock heart in the logo? Well, to us, the heart represents the stony soil of our small vineyards. From it, our vines struggle to grow and mature.
